Healthcare facilities: digital tools that keep pace with care.

Hospitals, university hospitals, clinics and care centres rely on networks, workstations and communications that are available around the clock. Skill Group works on the IT and telecom scope defined with your management and your IT department.

Starting from how departments are organised.

Emergency departments, inpatient wards, technical facilities, administrative functions and logistics have neither the same uses nor the same hours. Together with your IT department and department heads, we identify the sites, teams and applications involved.

Clinical software, patient records and biomedical equipment keep their own vendors, maintainers and rules for intervention.

Networks and Wi-Fi suited to care buildings.

Patient rooms, corridors, operating theatres, consultation rooms and linked buildings: coverage and network design are planned around the actual routes of care staff and the way patients and visitors use the network. The study of professional Wi-Fi and multi-site networks distinguishes between staff access, connected equipment and guest access.

Work in care areas is scheduled with departments, in line with the facility's hygiene and safety rules.

Reaching the right person at the right time.

Switchboard, patient reception, department lines, on-call rotas and communication between teams: business telephony is planned with the people who answer. Call scenarios, forwarding and mobile handsets are tested under the agreed conditions.

Nurse call, alert and dispatch systems fall under specific scopes, studied with their suppliers.

Securing access and preparing for continuity.

Shared workstations, named accounts, external providers and remote access all add to the points that need to be controlled. A cybersecurity audit helps prioritise measures, and the disaster recovery plan prepares degraded-mode operation with your teams.

Hosting health data with a third party requires a specific certification (HDS, for health data hosting). The choice of hosting and the compliance of data processing are reviewed with your relevant managers.

Keeping the IT estate running day to day.

New staff, temporary cover, workstations in continuous use and equipment renewal all call for rigorous follow-up. User support and IT maintenance are organised around a scope and hours defined in the contract.

Preparing a first conversation.

Tell us the type of facility, the sites and departments involved, and the issue or project to address. Do not include any patient data or medical information in the form. For public facilities, purchasing procedures remain in the hands of your relevant departments.

Your questions

Do you work on biomedical equipment?

No. It is the responsibility of the manufacturers and your biomedical departments. We work on IT and telecoms, coordinating with them when the network is involved.

Can you host our health data?

Hosting health data on behalf of a facility requires an HDS-certified host. Choosing the host and checking its certification are part of the scoping.

Can you work with our IT department or our hospital group?

Yes, within a defined scope: a project, a site, a department or one-off extra support. Each party's role is clarified before work starts.

Got a digital issue? You don’t have to work out who should handle it.

Describe your situation in your own words. The Skill Group team will get back to you to talk it through.
